Fire safety advice for children and schools.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service have a planned schools education programme, delivering to Key Stage 1,2,3 and 4.
The programmes involve educational talks from our Fire Crews and Schools Education Officer, videos and interactive games. Each student is also given an activity book.
Programmes include:- advice on dangers to spot, fire safety in the home, escape plans, night time routines, smoke alarms, what to do in a fire, and other general fire safety tips.
The programme also covers fire safety at school and drills.

Crucial Crew
Crucial Crew is a multi- agency event supported by the Fire Service, the Police, the Ambulance Service, Her Majesty’s Prison Service, Victim Support, Drugs awareness, School Nurses and the National Trust.

Bridge Project
This project is designed to cover topics such as fire safety, road safety, the dangers of hoax calls and arson, plus other skills such as team work, respect and discipline/routine.

LIFE
The scheme is known by its shorthand title "LIFE" and offers to young people from the ages of 12 to 19 the chance to work with real Firefighters over a period of 5 days following a set programme of activities. This initiative delivered by the fire service is to address fire safety and anti-social behaviour issues in relation to young people and the local communities they live in.
