Welcome to our official website
We are the largest non metropolitan fire and rescue service in the United Kingdom, created on 1st April 2007 from the combination of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services. An exciting future lies ahead as we deliver services to 1.6 million residents, plus those that visit us, across our two counties.
Our aim is to reduce the impact that fires and other emergencies have on people, property and the environment.
Chief Fire Officer Paul Young retired on 31 December 2008 and the new Chief Fire Officer is Lee Howell. CFO Howell takes up his appointment on 10 January 2009. Deputy Chief Fire Officer Neil Gibbins will be Acting Chief Fire Officer during the interim period.
