Bedroom Fire - Melsonby

2nd September 2015

Location:  Moor Road, Melsonby

At 1758 hours the Fire Service were called to smoke issuing from a first floor bedroom.  Fire Crews from Richmond, Colburn and Darlington attended.  Upon arrival all persons were out of the house. The fire was in a first floor bedroom. Crews used 4 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reels to deal with the fire.  The fire caused 3 square metres of fire damage, 10 square metres of heat and smoke damage to the bedroom. There was also 35 square metres of smoke damage to the first floor.  There was a smoke alarm fitted on the ground floor but did not actuate due to its location.  A neighbour raised the alarm when they saw smoke issuing from a window.  The cause of the fire is to follow, following a Fire Investigation.
