Chip Pan Fire - Thirkleby Way, York

Location:  Thirkleby Way, Osbaldwick, York 

Time: 2150 hours 

Fire engines from York and Acomb have been called to tackle a fire at a property on Thirkleby Way in the town.

Crews arrived on scene to discover a chip pan on fire in the kitchen of a private semi detached house.

The kitchen has suffered fire, heat and smoke damage and there is smoke damage to the remainder of the property.

1 male suffered smoke inhalation and was given oxygen therapy by fire crews before being taken to hospital by ambulance for a check up.

The cause is believed to be a chip pan left unattended and crews have used 1 hosereel and 2 breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

There were no smoke detectors fitted in the property.
