Fire in Fish and Chip Shop, New Quay Road, Whitby

Time: 10:08 hrs

Fire crews from Whitby and Lythe were called to reports of smoke from a Fish and Chip shop in New Quay Road, Whitby.   When they arrived on scene they requested further assistance from the Aerial Ladder Platform in Scarborough and two further fire engines from Danby and Robin Hoods Bay.  The fire started in a frying range and spread into the extractor system.  Staff at the shop used an extinguisher to extinguish the fire in the range and fire crews extinguished the fire in the extractor system using 3 hose reel jets. 6 breathing apparatus and ladders.

The building sustained fire damage to the ground floor including the range and smoke damage throughout all three floors of the property.
