Flat fire - King Street, York

20th November 2015

Location: King Street, York

Time: 2126 hours

Fire crews from York, Acomb and Huntington have been called to reports of a fire in a flat on King Street in York.

They arrived on scene to discover a fire in the bedroom of a third floor flat and have used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hosereel and a thermal imaging camera to deal with the incident.

4 occupants of the flat were out of the property on the arrival of the fire service and were uninjured.

Fortunately smoke detectors were fitted and these activated and raised the alarm.

The cause is believed to be a carelessly used light fitting which had been placed too close to furnishings in the bedroom.
