Horse Rescue, Cliffe, Selby

Location:    Off Turnham Lane, Cliffe, Selby

At 10:13 fire Control recieved a call with a report of a horse which had fallen down a dyke.  A fire engine was sent from Selby along with an officer.  On arrival the crews found a 20 year old horse (called Toby) whio it is believed had been there for most of the night.  The owner was holding its head out of  the water as the horse was exhausted.

Crews along with an engine from Malton carrying specialist equipment rescued the horse using strops, lines and manpower.  The horse was left with the owner and vet suffering from no apparent injuires.
