House Fire - Acomb

22nd August 2015

Location:  Thoresby Road, York

At 1058 hours the Fire Service were called to a property where a neighbour had seen smoke issuing from a back window.  Fire Crews from Acomb and York Fire Station attended.  Upon arrival crews found the property unoccupied apart from a dog who came out of the property when the Fire Service entered.  Upon inspection crews found a tea towel on fire on a hob which had been accidentally left on.  The fire caused 100% fire damage to the tea towel, there was no other damage.  Crews ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.  Smoke alarms were fitted and actuated.
