Incident Summary. Day Shift - Friday 2nd September

False alarm – Chatsworth Court, Harrogate

Time of call: 0723 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to burnt toast.

False alarm – Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0930 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Fire – Longber Lane, Burton in Lonsdale

Time of call: 1259 hours

Crews from Settle and Kirby Lonsdale have dealt with a telescopic loader on fire in a field. The vehicle was totally destroyed by fire. The cause was electrical fault and crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hosereels and a thermal imaging camera.

Lift rescue – Station Road, York

Time of call: 1301 hours

A crew from York have rescued 3 people from a lift in a commercial property. Lift keys were used.

Ring removal – Skipton Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1346 hours

A crew from Harrogate has removed a ring from a young boys finger. Cold water was used to reduce the swelling and small tools were used to remove the ring.

Undergrowth fire – Front Street, Grosmont

Time of call: 1537 hours

A crew from Whitby and volunteers from Goathland have dealt with a fire in undergrowth. The cause was deliberate and they have used a shovel to smother the fire with soil.

Road traffic collision – A19, Blakey Lane, Sowerby

Time of call: 1542 hours

A crew from Thirsk has dealt with a fuel spillage following a single vehicle collision with a lamp post. No persons were trapped or injured. Crew used absorbant pads on a fuel spillage and stood by whilst the vehicle was recovered.

Child stuck in swing – Charles Street, Selby

Time of call: 1601 hours

A crew from Selby has rescued a 15 year old girl who had become stuck in a baby swing in a play park. Crew used manpower to release her.

Rubbish fire – Gowland Lane, Cloughton

Time of call: 1604 hours

A crew from Scarborough has been called to a garden rubbish fire in the open. This was controlled burning which had got out of control. 1 hosereel was used.

False alarm – Sandhill Drive, Harrogate

Time of call: 1639 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty smoke detector.
