Incident Summary Day Shift Saturday 11th August 2018

11th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

We also attended a number of fire alarm activations during the shift which turned out to be a false alarms.

Please see below a round up of incidents from Saturday 11th August Day Shift

TOC 0904 - Fetter Lane, York

A request for assistance was received from a member of the community who had locked himself out of their home address, with an infant in the premises. Crews attended and used equipment to gain access to the premises and safely reunited the person with the child.

TOC 0916 - Fish Pier, Whitby

Calls were received regarding a premises on fire. Upon arrival Whitby crews found a n open plan social area of the building. Equipment was disconnected and the fire was successfully extinguished. Crews used hose real jets, breathing apparatus and thermal imaging cameras. The crews then ventilated the premises.

TOC 0953 – Clifton Park Avenue, York

Multiple crews were called to an incident involving a cow that had become trapped in mud. Upon arrival crews found the cow stuck in mud up to its chest. Animal rescue crews from Malton and Ripon attended the incident to assist with rescuing the cow using specialised animal rescue equipment. A vet attended the scene to ensure the health and welfare of the animal. The cow was released safely.

TOC 1008 – M62, J34/35

Selby crews responded to reports of a vehicle on fire on the hard shoulder of the M62. Upon arrival crews found a vehicle which had suffered a fire in its engine compartment. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and equipment to clear up some oil.

TOC 1120 – Newton on Derwent, Humberside

A Tadcaster crew attended a fire in a small wooded area. Upon investigation, crews found that the fire had been caused by what was believed to be an unattended camp fire, which was still smouldering. Crews used a knapsack sprayer to extinguish the remains.

TOC 1459 - Cambridge Street, Harrogate

Harrogate crews were called to a local store, to assist releasing a person that had become stuck in a lift. Crews attended and released the person from the lift safely.

TOC 1553 West Lane, Eppleby

Crews attended a bailer on fire in a field. Crews extinguished the fire. The machine was extensively damaged.

TOC 1612 – Monk gardens Lane, Helmsley

crews were called to a fire in the open. On arrival crews found an unattended controlled burn. Crews extinguished the fire.

TOC 1621 – A59, Harrogate

Crews attended a reported road traffic collision. One passenger required ambulance attention. Crews provided scene safety only.

TOC 1645 – Toten Lane, Slingsby

Crews attended a baler on fire. Crews removed bales from machine and extinguished fire and continued to dampen down the area.
