Incident Summary – Day Shift – Saturday 17th November

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Automatic Fire Alarm – Nelsons Court, York

Time of call: 0854

York attended an automatic fire alarm, this was a false alarm caused by deodorant being sprayed close to detector head.

Controlled burning –Waterside, Knaresborough

Time of call: 1207

Knaresborough crew attended reports of a fire in a garden, this turned out to be controlled burning under supervision, advice given by the crews to the occupier.

Automatic Fire Alarm –Westborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 1213

An appliance from Scarborough attended an automatic fire alarm, this was a false alarm caused by dust from workmen.

Lift Rescue – Pollard Gardens, Scarborough

Time of call: 1338

Scarborough were mobilised to a lift rescue, crews used hydraulic tools to force open the lift doors as a 67 year old female was stuck inside. Crews released the resident from the lift and notified the engineering company.

Rubbish Fire – Monkton Road, York

Time of call: 2058

York appliance extinguished a small rubbish fire using a foam extinguisher. The cause of the fire was deliberate.

Overheated washing machine – Flaxman Avenue, York

Time of call: 1342

York & Acomb were sent to reports of a washing machine on fire in a residential property, on arrival crews found that the washing machine had overheated and been unplugged. No action was taken by the fire service.

Controlled burning – Ripon Road, Killinghall

Time of call: 1357

Harrogate appliances were mobilised to storage bunkers on fire, on arrival crews confirmed this was a false alarm with nearby controlled burning under supervision.

Controlled burning – Oakdale Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 1611

An Appliance from Harrogate station was sent to reports of black smoke in a park, this was a false alarm caused by controlled burning under supervision. No action taken by the fire service.

Fire in Garden – Baildon Close, York

Time of call: 1708

Acomb attended an unused sofa that had been set on fire in a garden. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The fire was caused deliberately.
