Incident summary - Day shift Tuesday 16th August 2016

Meadlands, Osbaldwick, York

At 14:59 Fire crew from York attended reports of a small fire on a cycle track. On arrival crews discovered a small amount of rubbish and leaves on fire. Crews extinguished fire using a bucket of water.

Setttrington Road, Scarborough

At 15:45 Fire crews from Scarborough responded to reports of a cooker fire in a two storey property. On arrival crews confirmed a wooden tray had been left on a hob, which was possibly turned on by a child. The fire was already out when the crews arrived, however crews made the area safe and ventilated the property.

Over Silton, Northallerton

At 11:02 Fire crew from Northallerton attended reports of a fire sighted in the woods.  On arrival the crews confirmed that the fire was deep seated and measuring 15 x 20 metres in size. Fire Service team was fighting the fire for over an hour and a half and used spades and a hose reel to extinguish.

Farmland, Jeator Houses, Kirby Sigston

At 11:45 Fire crew from Northallerton responded to reports of farm equipment on fire. Crews confirmed that a tele handler was well alight on their arrival. Crews were at the incident for almost two hours fighting the fire. The cause of fire was believed to be an electrical fault. Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.

Sheriff Hutton, Huntington.

At 16:48 Fire crews from Huntington responded to reports of a large fire sighted in the open near to a caravan park. The incident involved 30 large bales of hay. Crews allowed bales to burn out, farmer assisted crews in breaking up the bales using tractor. Fire crews used one hose reel to dampen the surrounding area.

Helwath Road, Harwood Dale

At 17:05 Fire crews from Scarborough attended reports of fire sighted in the open near Scar Wood. Crew confirmed that 100 square metres of grass was involved however fire was out on arrival.

Poplar Tree Gardens, Sixth Avenue, York

At 17:48 fire crews from York, Acomb and Tadcaster responded to reports of a fire in a ground floor flat. Crews tackled the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. Cause of fire is still being investigated by a Fire Investigation Officer

Field off Dick Scot Lane, Dalton, Richmond

At 17:53 fire crews from Richmond and Colburn responded to reports of a stubble field on fire. One field containing straw bales was well alight on arrival of crews and was extinguished using one hose reel jet and beaters.
