Incident Summary - Day shift Wednesday 25th April

24th April 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.


Brayton, Selby - Time of call 09:02

Selby crews responded to reports of a smoke alarm sounding at a residential property. On arrival the crews confirmed smoke was coming from property and they forced the door open to enter. Fire was in the kitchen and crews extinguished fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. The cause of the fire was down to the two large dogs that lived in the property. One of them had jumped up and started the hob which had caused the fire. Luckily the smoke alarm alerted the neighbours who called the Fire Service.

Lindley Street, York - Time of call 10:15

Acomb and York crews responded to a washing machine on fire. The cause of the fire was an electrical fault. The fire was out on arrival of the crews.

Tang Hall, York - Time of call 10:41

York fire crews responded to a smoke alarm activation at a school. This was a false alarm caused by cooking fumes.

Percy’s Lane York - Time of call 12:21

York crew attended a fire alarm activation at a residential property. This was caused by cooking fumes.

Scarcroft Road, York - Time of call 13:15

Fire crews from York responded to reports of smoke coming from a domestic property. The fire was very minimal and was caused by electrical cabling in a utility room. Fire was out on arrival and an electricial attended. No action required by Fire Service.

Woodlands Drive, Scarborough - Time of call 15:08

Scarborough fire crews were mobilised to a stretch of bushes well alight near the cemetery. The care taker of a local school extinguished the fire before the arrival of fire service. No further assistance was required.
