Round up of incidents for – Day Shift  Friday 8th April


Youngs Yard, Richmond.

 Fire crews attended reports of an automatic fire alarm sounding at a residential address. When crews arrived they inspected the premises and confirmed there to be no fire. They were able to establish the alarm had activated due to cooking fumes.

 Firefly Walk, Colburn

 Fire crews from Colburn attended reports of a car on fire. Crews investigated the reports and confirmed the incident was not a fire. Fumes coming from a ruptured/leaking oil pipe in the engine compartment was mistaken for a fire. Crews investigated and made vehicle safe

 College Lane, Low Bradley

 Fire crews from Skipton attended reports of an electricity pole on fire and smouldering..  Crews attended the incident and liaised with the electricity board engineers who were also on scene. The crews were not able to extinguish the fire due to there being electrical current still present in the pole. The crew will monitor the incident and make a revisit to the incident later today.

 Wetherby Road, Harrogate

 Fire crews from Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm sounding at a domestic premises on Wetherby Road. Upon crews arrival they discovered a fire in the kitchen which had involved a pan and its contents.  The fire was out upon crew’s arrival, they ventilated the property and ensured the property was safe for the occupants. The fire is believed to have started due to cooking being left unattended.

 Harrogate Road, Huby

 Fire crews from Harrogate attended a domestic premises in Huby where a 3 year old girl had locked herself in the bathroom.

Fire crews were able to release her from the bathroom and re-unite her with her mother. She was unharmed by her ordeal and happy to be back with her mother. Crews used small tools only.


Foreshore Road, Scarborough

 Fire crews from Scarborough, Filey and Sherburn are in attendance at a fire at a commercial property.

The fire involved a flat roof  at the premises. Fire crews used 1 hose reel jet and themal imaging camera. The incident is still on going. Male youth has suffered burns to hands and is in care of paramedics.


Lingcroft Lane, Crockey Hill

 Fire crews from York have attended a chimney fire at a domestic premises near Crockey Hill. Crews have used 1 hose reel, chimney rods and small tools. Crews ensured the chimney fire to be extinguished and gave advice to the occupants.


A658 Nr Follifoot.

 Fire crews from Harrogate attended reports of a car fire on the A658. Crews were able to confirm the vehicle was not on fire. The car was overheated and therefore fumes were coming from the engine compartment.  Advice given, no further action by fire crew.
