Incident summary Dayshift 4 October 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Near Masham – Time of call 11:32

Crews from Masham and the aerial ladder from Harrogate responded to a chimney fire in a hotel. The fire was confined to the chimney which was extinguished by use of a hose reel and small tools, with the cause being an accumulation of soot.

Kexby, near York– Time of call 12:21

An appliance from York assisted Ambulance crews at their request in helping a female casualty out of a premises with difficult egress and into their care outside.

Colliergate, York – Time of call 12:36

Appliances from York, Acomb, Huntington, Tadcaster and Malton responded to a premises fire in York. The three storey premises suffered extensive fire damage to its first and second floors. Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire which was believed to have started in an extractor fan due to an electrical fault. Fire crews also isolated the electrical supply, used a positive pressure fan to ventilate adjacent properties and carried out salvage operations.

 

There were also fire alarm activations in York, Colburn, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge, with the respective causes being: dust from workmen, malfunction of callpoint, unknown cause due to system re-set by occupants, and a cloth left on a hob.
