Incident Summary for North Yorkshire Fire for Nightshift 12th October 2017

Ellers Road, Sutton-in-Craven Time of call 18:15

Skipton firecrew attended to a report of a car fire. On their arrival, car well alight, but being extinguished by a fire appliance from the nearby bordering West Yorkshire, believed to be from Keighley.  

Malvern Avenue, York  Time of call 19:26

Acomb appliance responded to a reported car fire which was found to be a false alarm due to steam from an overheated engine.

Barlby Road, Barlby -Time of call 19:31

Selby appliance responded to a small fire in the open. No sign of fire on arrival – believed to perhaps have been a small fire, though not located, started, and then extinguished, by youths.

Foxwood Lane, York  Time of call 20:57

Acomb firecrew extinguished a picnic table in a playpark by use of a hose reel following it’s believed deliberate ignition by youths. Hosereel used.

Fulford Road, Scarborough - Time of call 21:44

Scarborough crews responded to a fire in a cooker which was believed to have been extinguished by a neighbour using an extinguisher. On their attendance, Scarborough crews confirmed fire out on their arrival, with fire damage to fat in the bottom of the oven only.

13th October

Heslington Road, York -Time of call 00:14

York and Acomb crews responded to a report of smoke coming from a shop which was found to be a false alarm, the ‘smoke’ being due to the activation of a smoke cloak security device. Incident left with Police.

University of York  Time of call 00:53

York crew responded to a fire alarm in University premises which was found to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Malton Road, Pickering  - Time of call 01:59

Pickering crew responded to a fire alarm in commercial leisure premises  which was found to be a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Owston Road, Hunmanby, Filey  Time of call 02:07

Filey crew responded to a report of smoke at the rear of a domestic premises which was found to be a false alarm due to a believed ongoing neighbourly dispute. No current fire.

Thoresby Road, York  - Time of call 03:00

Acomb crew responded to a call from a neighbouring flat reporting a smell of petrol which was found to be originating from the adjacent domestic premises. Firecrew stood by till the requested Police attended. Cause of smell – strong smell of paint in newly decorated downstairs flat.

High Ousegate,  York  - Time of call 04:54

York crew responded to a fire involving rubbish which had been set alight in a shop doorway, the heat from which fractured the shop window, and smoke activating alarms at the effected and adjacent premises. Crews used a hosereel to extinguish the rubbish fire, and requested, via Police, keyholders for both premises.
