Incident Summary Night Shift Friday, 18th August

Crews from Boroughbridge and Malton assisted a farmer in rescuing his cow after it had fallen into a river and become tangled amongst branches.

Farmer and crews used a variety of saws and animal rescue equipment, before hauling cow to safety where it was checked by a vet and is expected to make a full recovery

 St.Nicholas Close, Scarborough

Scarborough firecrew released 2 persons unharmed from a hotel’s lift by use of lift keys.

Oakdale Road, York.

A crew from Huntington responded to passers-by reporting a fire alarm activation at a closed commercial premises. Alarm had activated due to a believed system fault.


Castle Road, Scarborough

Crews from Scarborough responded to a report of smoke in a flat and fire alarms sounding which was discovered to be from cooking fumes from one of the flats only.

Water End, York

A crew from Acomb were mobilised to a report of a smoke alarm activation in a youth hostel which was found to have activated due to a faulty detector head.

Sturdy Court, Kirkbymoorside.

A crew from Helmsley (Kirkbymoorside were unavailable) were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding with no response obtained from the monitoring station from the elderly female resident. On attendance the crews found that the alarm had activated due to a faulty system only with the female occupant safe and well, if surprised.
