Incident Summary – Night Shift

 Tuesday 19th December

 Small fire – Cold Bath Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 1746 hours

Harrogate crew have dealt with an illuminated traffic bollard on fire. This resulted in damage to the bollard. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault. Crew used a dry powder extinguisher.

 Road traffic collision – A169, Saltergate

Time of call: 1813 hours

Crews from Pickering and Goathland have assisted at a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a Skoda Fabia which had collided with a safety embankment on a bend. No persons trapped. Female driver (early 60’s) was uninjured. Male passenger (late 30’s) suffered a minor chest injury and was taken to hospital for a precautionary check up. Crew used stem light and torches to make vehicle safe and assist with casualty handling.

 Water leak – Garthway, New Earswick

Time of call: 1839 hours

A crew from Huntington has dealt with water leaking through a bathroom ceiling in a first floor residential property. Leak was due to a fault on the immersion hot water tank. Crew isolated water and electrics and gave advice to occupier. Hand tools used.

 Bin fire – Market Place, Harrogate

Time of call: 2043 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a bin fire in the open. The cause is believed to be deliberate and the crew used 1 hose reel to extinguish.

 False alarm – Askham Bryan

Time of call: 2105 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault on the detection system.

 False alarm – Bilsdale Close, Romanby

Time of call: 2133 hours

2 crews from Northallerton have been called to a smell of burning in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from an electric heater which had not been turned on for some time. No fire.

 False alarm – Clotherholme Road, Ripon

Time of call: 2212 hours

A crew from Ripon has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential building. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 Wednesday 20th December

 Rubbish fire - Cambridge Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0142 hours

A crew from Harrogate has been called to a small rubbish fire near the Cenotaph. The cause was deliberate and the fire was out on our arrival. Crew carried out an inspection only.

 Fire to office adjacent to farmhouse – Brearton, nr Knaresborough

Time of call: 0336 hours

Firecrews from Knaresborough and Harrogate are still in attendance at a fire to an office of 4 x 5 metres adjacent to a farmhouse. 4 breathing apparatus sets and 2 hosereel jets have been used to extinguish the fire and fire investigation is currently being carried out.
