Incident Summary for North Yorkshire Fire nightshift 25 August 2017

26th August 2017


Union Street, Filey - Time of call 17:16

Firecrews from Filey, Scarborough and Malton responded to reports of a flat fire; however this was a false alarm caused by steam from a boiler.

 York Road, Barlby - Time of call 17:46

Selby and York firecrews attended reports of a fire in a public premises.

However this was a false alarm caused by excessive smoke from boiler.

 Station Road, Scalby, Scarborough - Time of call 17:47

Scarborough and Filey fire crews attended a fire in a ground floor flat.

Cause of fire is believed to be radiated heat from a halogen bulb inside cupboard which ignited cardboard.

Fire was extinguished by a female occupant using a bucket of water prior to arrival of Fire Service.

One elderly male was transported to Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Fire crews administered oxygen therapy and ventilated the building.

 Great Barugh, near Helmsley - Time of call 17:56

Malton and Pickering crews attended a baler on fire in a field.

The cause of fire is believed to be an electrical fault.

The baler was destroyed by fire.

Crews used two hose reel jets and pitchforks to extinguish.

 Paradise Lane, Hazlewood, Near Tadcaster - Time of call 19:23

Tadcaster firecrew responded to a report of an elderly female wheelchair user stuck in an external lift.

The female was released by firecrew using manpower and first aid was administered prior to medical responders attending.

The female was transported to hospital by ambulance suffering from cuts.

 Butcher Lane, Potto - Time of call 21:02

Firecrews from Northallerton and Stokesley attended a two vehicle road traffic collision.

No persons were trapped.

Ambulance crews treated casualties and Fire Service made the scene safe.

 Runswick Avenue, Whitby - Time of call 21:04

Whitby Fire crew attended to a water leak inside a flat. Water was coming in through ceiling; this was caused by a leak from the flat above.

Crew isolated the water supply.



Selstone Crescent, Sleights - Time of call 02:20

Whitby and Lythe firecrews  attended a report of smoke within a premises which was caused due to a faulty consumer electrical unit which had partially melted.

Firecrews isolated the power supply and gave advice.


In addition, Crews from Selby and Scarborough responded to automatic fire alarm activations. All false alarms
