Incident Summary Night Shift Saturday 4th November

Binsoe, Masham

TOC: 18:23

Crew from Masham damped down a large bonfire to prevent further ignition and it getting out of control.

Fairfield Way, Whitby

TOC: 18:39

Crew from Whitby were mobilised to a report of a car on fire in an industrial estate. Crews extinguished using 1 hose rell, thermal imaging camera and dewalt saw, and left in hands of police due to cause being believed to have been deliberate ignition.

Fulford Road, York

TOC: 18:56

Crew from York were mobilised to a report of a fire on a building site. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning.

Long Drax Village, Selby

TOC: 19:04

Crew from Selby were mobilised to a report of a fire on a track. Crews extinguished using a water backpack, beaters and a bucket.

The Spa, Scarborough

TOC: 19:10

Crew from Scarborough were mobilised to a report of a fire seen near to the chalets at the spa. This was a false alarm as it was a controlled burning confined to a metal container.

Hurricane Way, York

Crew from Huntington were mobilised to a report of a fire in the open. This was a small bonfire on wasteland, extinguished using 1 hose reel.

Bilton Hall tracks, Harrogate

Crew from Harrogate were mobilised to a report of a fire in a field. This was a small fire, believed to have been started deliberately, extinguished using a bucket of water.

Faceby Road, Carlton in Cleveland

Crew from Stokesley were mobilised to a report of a fire in woodland. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning with a responsible person in attendance.

St Winifreds Road, Harrogate

Crew from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Boroughbridge were mobilised to report of a fire to a house roof due to a stray firework. This was a house extension under construction ignited by firework. This was out on arrival as occupier extinguished using a garden hose prior to fire service arrival.

Hungate, York

Crew from York were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm due to a system fault.

Hungate, Brompton

TOC:21:00

Crews from Sherburn and Scarborough were mobilised to a report of a large barn fire. Barn contained approx. 150 tonnes of straw bales. The barn of 30 x 15m completely fire destroyed with slight fire spread damage to an additional building. Crews extinguished using 4 main jets, 3 ground monitors, 2 light portable pumps, 1 main pump. Cause of fire not known.

White Rose Close, Nether Poppleton

Crew from Acomb were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm due to a water leak.

Sleegill, Richmond

TOC: 22:05

Crew from Richmond were mobilised to a report of a fire in a bin. This was extinguished using a watering can.

West Moor Lane, Heslington

Crew from York were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm due to fumes from cooking.

South Street, Scarborough

Low Ousegate, York

 York crew were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm due to an accidental activation of a break glass call point.

Link Road, Huntington

Crew from Huntington were mobilised to a report of a fire on a footpath. This was a motorbike on fire, believed to be deliberate ignition. Extinguished using 1 hose reel.

Thorpe Green Lane, Thorpe Underwood

TOC: 00:56

Boroughbridge crew were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

Westborough, Scarborough

TOC: 02:16

Scarborough crew were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding in a department store. Cause of activation not known.

Knaresborough Road, Little Ribston

TOC: 02:53

Knaresborough crew were mobilised to a report of a fire alarm sounding in a domestic premises due to a faulty detector. Detector replaced by firecrews.

Dishforth Village.

TOC: 03:45

Crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon responded to a burning wooden lintel above a wood burning stove. Crews removed stove from property, cut away wooden lintel to apply water, and ensured working alarms were in situ. Cause of fire was an accumulation of soot.

Halfway up Sutton Bank.

TOC: 05:39

Thirsk crew currently enroute to a report of a fire in a lay-by half-way up Sutton Bank.
