Incident Summary – Night Shift – Friday 12th October

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Dangerous structure – Goldgate Lane, Swainby

Time of call: 1546 hours

A crew from Northallerton has attended a live power cable brought down by a falling tree branch. Crew stood by whilst cable was made safe by Northern Power Grid.

Road traffic collision – B1257, Newgate Bank

Time of call: 1547 hours

Crews from Helmsley and Stokesley have dealt with a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car which had left the road and gone approx. 25m down an embankment. No persons trapped. Crew assisted Ambulance personnel with casualty care and to transfer casualty to ambulance. 1 female (20’s) taken to hospital with suspected neck injuries. Triple extension ladder, first aid kit and salvage sheet used.

Assist Ambulance – Oak Street, York

Time of call: 1744 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to assist Ambulance crew gain entry to a domestic property and assist with transfer of casualty to an ambulance. Small tools and manpower used.

False alarm – Vivis Lane, Pickering

Time of call: 1815 hours

A crew from Pickering has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

Dangerous structure – North Terrace, Whitby

Time of call: 1838 hours

A crew from Whitby has been called to reports of aluminium roof sheets being blown from a commercial property. Crew cordoned off the area, gave advice to staff and left the incident with Scarborough Borough Council who were also on scene. Crew used lighting and incident tape.

False alarm – Wigginton Road, York

Time of call: 1933 hours

A crew from York has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from hot water.

False alarm – Station Parade, Harrogate

Property fire – High Skellgate, Ripon

Time of call: 1943 hours

2 crews from Ripon have been called to an external window sill on fire at a domestic property. The fire was out on our arrival but crews used a thermal imaging camera and a bucket to remove rotten wood from window sill. Damage was limited to the window sill only. The cause is believed to be a discarded cigarette.

False alarm – Racecourse Road, York

Time of call: 1958 hours

A crew from York has been called to reports of a lighting generator on fire in a car park. This was a false alarm due to fumes from an overheated generator. No fire.

False alarm – Stokesley Business Park

Time of call: 0104 hours

A crew from Stokesley has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

Large Vehicle fire – Wenning Avenue, High Bentham

Time of call: 0125 hours

Bentham crew along with an appliance from Hornby attended a 4x4 truck on fire in a yard, the truck suffered significant fire damage and spread to adjacent vehicles in the yard. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 4 hose reel jets, small tools and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. It is believed the cause of the fire was due to an electrical fault on the vehicle.

False alarm – Blossom Street, York

Time of call: 0348 hours

York attended an automatic fire alarm at a commercial property, this turned out to be a false alarm due to an unknown fault.

False alarm – Eastway, Eastfield, Scarborough

Time of call: 0417 hours

Scarborough attended an automatic fire alarm at a residential  address, this turned out to be a false alarm due to a fault on system.

False Alarm – Audax Close, York

Time of call: 0451 hours

Huntington crew were mobilised to an automatic fire alarm at commercial property. This is was a false alarm caused by a fault on system.

False Alarm – Brompton-By-Sawdon, Scarborough

Time of call: 0505 hours

Sherburn appliance responded to  an automatic fire alarm at a residential  address, this turned out to be a false alarm, the cause of the alarm activation is unknown.
