Incident Summary - Night shift Monday 5th September

5th September 2016

Kings Gardens, Sowerby

Fire crews from Thirsk responded to a male who had got stuck up a tree after trying to rescue a cat that had climbed up a tree. When crews arrived male climbed down by himself but crews rescued the cat to prevent further rescue attempts from anyone.

Poplar Avenue, Kirkbymoorside.

Fire crews from Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley attended reports of an oven on fire in a bungalow. On arrival crews confirmed a Teflon cooking mat had been put under the grill instead of the oven had been damaged by heat. Crews did not need to use any equipment.

Red Hill Lane, Lumby, Selby

Fire crews from Tadcaster responded to sightings of smoke near the A63. On arrival crews confirmed 10 tonnes of waste straw  well alight and close to a telegraph pole. Crews requested the attendance of the water bowser which provided 11,000 litres of water to extinguish the fire.

Langley Drive, Norton, Malton

Fire crews from Malton attended a single vehicle road traffic accident. Vehicle had overturned into a ditch. 1 male and 1 female aged approx early 20’s  inside car were extricated by Fire crews using hydraulic cutting gear. Both were taken to Hospital by Ambulance.

Moor Lane, Brawby, Malton

Fire crews from Malton attended a car fire caused by a fuel leak. Owner of car had extinguished fire using a dry powder extinguisher prior to arrival of crews.

 

In addition to the above incidents several automatic fire alarm activations were attended. All were false alarms.
