 Please see below a round up of incidents from Thursday 31st May Night Shift

 Selby: time – 18.42

 Selby appliance attended a small rubbish fire in a builder’s yard, this was extinguished using 1 hose reel jet. This is believed to be deliberate.

 Harrogate: time – 19.59A crew from Harrogate was sent to reports of a fire in the open. This turned out to be an unattended bonfire, crews used knapsack sprayers and a shovel to extinguish.

 Ripon: time – 20.00

Ripon were sent to a camp fire that has been left unattended, knapsack sprayers were used to extinguish the fire.

Low Bentham: time - 20.13

Appliances from Bentham, Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale (North West Fire Brigade) and specialist incident support unit from Ripon were mobilised to a road traffic collision involving a car and a large goods vehicle. Crews used hydraulic cutting gear and small tools to perform a door removal and a male in his 20s was extracted and transported to hospital via air ambulance with life threatening injuries.

 Selby: time – 23.02

Both Selby appliances were sent to a fire in a residential property, on arrival crews found a small fire in a bedroom that was out on arrival. Crews used breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel and a thermal imaging camera to ventilate the property. Occupants of the property were taken to hospital for precautionary checks due to smoke inhalation.

 York: time 04.07

Acomb appliance attended a moped that has been set on alight in York. The crew used backpack sprayers to extinguish the fire. It is believed this was caused deliberately.

Skipton: time – 05.29

Skipton attended reports of a car on fire, the crew confirmed a small fire within the engine compartment of a Vauxhall Astra was out on arrival and a thermal imaging was used for inspection only.

 

During the night shift we also attended a number of automatic fire alarms across the county in Pickering, Scarborough, Harrogate and York. These all turned out to be false alarms.
