Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 17th February 2018

 Chimney fire – Main Street, Minskip

Time of call: 1744 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has been called to a chimney fire in a commercial property. The cause is believed to be an accumulation of soot. Crew used 1 hosereel, thermal imaging camera, 9m ladder, roof ladder, hand tools and chimney kit.

 False alarm – Church Lane, Milby

Time of call: 1808 hours

A crew from Ripon has investigated reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning. Advice given.

 Water leak – Fourth Avenue, York

Time of call: 1834 hours

A crew from York has been called to reports of water leaking through the ceiling of a residential property from the flat above. Crew gained access to the upper flat and isolated the water leak at the kitchen tap. Incident left with residents.

 Road traffic collision – A661, Follifoot

Time of call: 1943 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have been called to a 2 vehicle road traffic collision. No persons were trapped but the female driver of a Mazda suffered a cut to her head and shock. The occupants of the second vehicle fled the scene. Fire crews administered first aid prior to arrival of Ambulance and made the vehicle safe. First aid kit, oxygen therapy and thermal imaging camera used.

 Small fire – A61, Killinghall

Time of call: 2005 hours

A crew from Ripon has dealt with a bale of silage on fire. Cause is believed to be deliberate. Extinguished by farmer with buckets of water prior to our arrival. Crew used 1 hosereel to dampen down.

 Water leak – Low Skellgate, Ripon

Time of call: 2058 hours

A crew from Ripon has been called to reports of flooding in a residential property due to a possible fault on the hot water system. Crew isolated the building water supply externally as they were unable to gain access to the property.

 False alarm – Bower Street, Harrogate

Time of call: 2218 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 Wooler Street, Scarborough

Time of call: 2330 hours

Crews from Scarborough and Filey and an aerial ladder platform have investigated a smell of smoke on the ground floor area of a block of flats. This was a false alarm. No smoke or fire located.

 Car fire – A645, Eggborough

Time of call: 2347 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a car fire involving a Vauxhall Zafira which resulted in fire, heat and smoke damage to the whole of the vehicle. The cause is believed to be an engine fault. Crew used 2 hose reels and 2 breathing apparatus.

 Sunday 18th

 False alarm – Ebor Court, Northallerton

Time of call: 0231 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty smoke detector.

 Regent Avenue, Harrogate

Time of call: 0427 hours

A call from a neighbour on hearing a domestic smoke alarm activation responded in both Harrogate fire appliances attending a house with slight smoke logging on the ground floor due to sausages left unattended on a grill. The crews uses a ladder to rouse the male occupant who then open windows to aid ventilation while suitable advice was given.

 Tanner Row, York

Time of call: 0455 hours

Various appliances from the York area responded to reports of smoke issuing externally and internally from an air handling unit on the side of a nightclub. Firecrews isolated the unit’s power and used a thermal camera to check for any fire but it was determined that there had been smoke only.
