Incident Summary – Night Shift Monday,  1st January

 Fire alarm activation - Clarence Drive, Harrogate

Time of call: 1849 hours

Crews from Harrogate attended a fire alarm activation which was due to a faulty detector.

 Cat trapped between house and garage wall – Lingholm Crescent, Eastfield, Scarborough

Time of call: 1957 hours

An officer, and then an appliance, assisted in retrieving a stray cat from being trapped between walls. A vet had sedated the cat which was then handed to the care of the RSPCA. Handtools and airbags used.

 Fire to open porch – commercial premises, High Street, Carlton, Selby

Time of call: 2106 hours

Crews from Selby extinguished a fire to an open porch to a commercial premises following the occupant letting off a few unused fireworks then re-entering premises not realising that a fire had then started.  Hosereel used.

 2nd January

 Fire to shed and two adjacent cars – Thorpe Bassett.

Time of call: 0224 hours

Crews from Malton and Sherburn extinguished a large wooden shed fire which also extensively damaged two adjacent cars, outside a premises, by use of hosereel jets. The cause is believed due to fairy lights on the shed.

 False alarm good intent – near High Ousegate, York

Time of call: 0249 hours

A crew from York responded to a report of smoke in area of York. On attendance, crews liaised with the caller and discovered it was a false alarm due to controlled burning within a fire-pit in an outdoors tented premises.
