Incident Summary – Night Shift Saturday 26th May

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Stockwell Road, Knaresborough

Time of call: 1842 hours

A crew from Knaresborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Making safe - Scalm Lane, Selby

Time of call: 1955 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a broken tree branch in a dangerous position over a public car park. Crew used a long reach pole to remove branch from tree.

Boat fire – Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Gargrave

Time of call: 2044 hours

2 crews from Skipton have dealt with a fire involving a 15ft river craft moored near a lock. This resulted in fire damage to the whole of the vessel. Incident left with Police to trace owners. Crew used breathing apparatus, small jet, portable pump and a reach pole. The cause is believed to be a faulty appliance on board.

False alarm – Burton Stone Lane, York

Time of call: 2155 hours

Crews from Acomb and York have investigated reports of a smell of smoke coming from a washing machine in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cigarette smoke from an ashtray.

False alarm – North Park Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 2205 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

Garage fire – Stapleton

Time of call: 2246 hours

Crews from Darlington and Richmond have dealt with a rags and tools on fire on top of a small fridge in garage attached to a domestic property. Resulted in fire damage to fridge and slight smoke damage to garage. 1 hosereel used and advice given. Cause believed to be a dropped light.

Removal of objects – Fire Station, York

Time of call: 2303 hours

York crew have removed a pair of handcuffs from a young boy who was brought to the station by his father. Crew used a hacksaw and pliers to remove the handcuffs without causing injury.

False alarm – Main Street, Drax

Time of call: 0005 hours

A crew from Selby has responded to a smoke alarm at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system. Advice given.

Water rescue – Station Road, Richmond

Time of call: 0047 hours

Crews from Richmond, Reeth and Leyburn have been sent to reports of an intoxicated & distressed teenage male in the River Swale. Search of river bank carried out using thermal imaging camera and torches. Male located and had not been in the water.  Incident left with Police & Ambulance.

Water leak - Trafalgar Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 0204 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a water leak in a bedsit due to damage to the sink. Fire crew isolated water supply to building and gave advice to resident. Manpower only used.
