Lascelles Lane, Northallerton - Time of call 17:15

A firecrew from Northallerton attended a fire alarm activation within sheltered accommodation, the cause for the activation being cooking fumes.

Peasholm Drive, Scarborough - Time of call 18:06

Scarborough crews responded to a 999 call from the occupants stating they had a grill pan fire. The fire was out on arrival – as the occupant had turned the cooker off prior to vacating the premises.  Fire was to sausages and accumulated fat only.  Firecrews also fitted x2 smoke alarms while there.

Esplanade, Scarborough - Time of call 18:27

A Scarborough crew responded to a fire alarm activation within sheltered housing. The cause for the alarm activation being fumes from overdone crumpets.

Briercliff, Scarborough - Time of call 19:48

Firecrews extinguished an unattended fire set deliberately in a rear garden.

Derelict former printing building on Columbus Ravine, Scarborough  - Time of call 19:50

Firecrews extinguished a fire within a derelict building of approx. 100 x 30m by use of a hosereel jet, breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation fan. Fire cause was deliberate by youths.

Barthorpe, near Malton  Time of call 19:55

Firecrews responded to a report of smoke coming from a grain drier silo. Crews remained for some hours while tonnes of burning and overheated grain was removed from the drier and extinguished by crews using a hosereel jet and thermal imaging camera.

Sandsend Road, Sandsend  - Time of call 20:29

A crew from Whitby assisted a male whose butane gas cylinder started leaking. The cylinder was monitored in open air till vented, then made safe and advice given.

Tewit Well Avenue, Harrogate - Time of call 21:50

Harrogate crews responded to a smoke alarm activation with no response from the 79 year old female resident. Alarm activated due to cooking fumes only.

Selby Dam Pumping Station, Millgate, Selby - Time of call 22:09

Two members of the public sighted a cat trapped on a chain leading to a pumping station. A local Fire Officer was initially dispatched to assess. Sadly, no further sighting of the cat on his arrival.

Heslington Court, York - Time of call 23:01

York crew  responded to a smoke alarm activation in sheltered accomodation. Cause for activation – believed system fault.

Moor Top area, near Castleton - Time of call 23:13

The Danby appliance responded to a report of a fire seen in the area which was found to be old straw set alight and left to burn out by farm occupants. Due to close proximity of farm buildings – the fire was extinguished.


Dane Avenue, Thorpe Willoughby - Time of call 05:08

A crew from Selby responded to a call from an elderly male who had fallen inside his locked property and was unable to get back up and into his chair following a recent knee replacement. Crew used a locksnapper to gain entry.

Courtneys, Selby - Time of call 05:39

Ambulance requested assistance to remove a female with a suspected blood clot from a premises. Crew from York dispatched as available Selby appliance assisting male in Thorpe Willoughby.
