Incident Summary for Night Shift 31st August 2018

Russell Street, Harrogate

TOC: 17:50

Crews from Harrogate responded to a reported property fire which was found to be a false alarm due to a grill pan left unattended.

Balk, near Thirsk

TOC: 18:10

Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton extinguished, using hosereels, a combine harvester which had caught fire due to an electrical fault in a field of crops.

Rainbow Lane, Malton

TOC: 18:36

Crews from Malton extinguished a hay bale and stubble field fire of approx. 100 x 100 metres, by use of a hosereel and beaters.

Minskip, near Boroughbridge.

TOC: 19:18

Crew from Boroughbridge used sand and shovels to mop up a petrol leak from a campervan on a garage forecourt.

Lower Dunsforth, near Boroughbridge.

TOC: 19:38

Crews from Boroughbridge, Harrogate and Knaresborough attended a 2 storey barn conversion which was extensively damaged by fire. Hosereels, an aerial ladder platform, breathing apparatus, and other equipment was utilised to extinguish the fire. The incident is due a further revisit later today to determine the cause of the fire.

Crew from Scarborough extinguished a toy pram on fire using a bucket of water.

A64, Golden Hill, Malton

TOC: 20:43

Crew from Malton extinguished a car fire using a hosereel, with the cause believed to be an electrical fault. The car had been towing a trailer carrying beehives which had been detached from the car when the fire was discovered and no beehives were effected.

Eighth Avenue, York.

Crew from York extinguished a small fire in the open using a bucket of water.

Gristhorpe, near Filey.

TOC: 22:39

Crews from Filey and Scarborough extinguished a fire to decking of a holiday caravan balcony using a hosereel. The cause believed to have been a dropped lighted article.

Aisalby.

TOC: 23:12

Crew from Whitby extinguished a chimney fire by use of a hearth kit and salvage sheet, with the cause being an accumulation of soot.

 

There has also been a few alarm activations to which firecrews have attended during the shift – all activations being false alarms or burnt cooking.
