Incident Summary Thursday 12th July Day Shift

Please see below a round up of incidents from Thursday 12th July Day Shift

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Burton Stone Lane, York: TOC 09.18

York crew attended reports of a large amount of grass smouldering. Crews found the fire out on arrival, inspection only done by the fire brigade.

Station Road, South Otterington: TOC 11.27

Northallerton crew attended a lineside fire caused by an overhead power line coming down. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet, backpack sprayers and beaters and then dampened down the area.

Ouse Bank, Selby: TOC 13.07

Selby crew attended a small area of grass and bushes that were seen smouldering. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area. Cause of the fire is unknown.  

East Moor, Helmsley: TOC 14.03

Crews from Helmsley and Pickering attended a car fire on East Moor. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. It is believed this was caused by an electrical fault.

Dishforth Road, Ripon: TOC 14.19

Appliances from Ripon and Thirsk along with an appliance and water bowser from Boroughbridge attended a field of freshly cut straw that had caught fire due to a bailer overheating. Crews used hose reel jets, knapsack sprayers and beaters to extinguish the fire and dampen down the surrounding area.

A19 Skelton: TOC 14.49  

York and Acomb were sent to reports of a 2 vehicle road traffic collision with persons trapped. On arrival at scene crews found a single vehicle RTC with no persons trapped with Police and Ambulance in attendance. No action was taken by the fire brigade.

Ouse Bank, Selby: TOC 15.21

Selby attended a second grass fire in the area measuring approximately 5sqm. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and dampen down the area.

Halton East, Skipton: TOC 16.38

Skipton Crew were mobilised to smoke seen on Eastby Moor, this turned out to be controlled burning under supervision. No action taken by the fire brigade.

 

Across the county the Service also attended automatic fire alarms in Ripon & York. These both turned out be false alarms.
