Incident Summary Dayshift 25th March 2018

North Promenade, Whitby

A call was received at 13:14 reporting that a dog had fallen off the sea wall and onto the rocks below on the beach. A fire crew from Whitby attended the incident. Crews managed to rescue Molly the 15 year old spaniel using a salvage sheet and lines. Molly was taken to the vets by her owners for a check up.

A174, Sandsend

At 14:23 a call was received requesting our attendance to clear a fuel spillage resulting from a road traffic collision. A fire crew from Whitby attended the scene and used drizzitt pads to contain the spillage which consisted of petrol and water from the radiator.

Footpath near Cod Beck Resevoir, Osmotherly

At 14:26 a call was received stating that there was a fire on alongside a footpath. A fire crew from Northallerton attended the incident. They proceeded on foot and found that approximately 40sq metres of marshland had been on fire but was out on their arrival. Crews used wildfire backpacks to dampen down the area.


Throughout the day we have also received and attended several false alarm activations.
