Incident Summary - Day Shift 17th February

Round up of incidents for – Day Shift Wednesday 17th Feb

 08.38  Doncaster Road, Bawtry, Nr Selby

 Fire crews from Selby attended an automatic fire alarm sounding at a commercial premises. Crews were able to check the premises and confirm there to be no fire risk. The alarm was activated by a fault in the system

 08.59 Victoria Ave, Harrogate

Fire crews from Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm at a commercial premises. Fire crews carried out an inspection and were able to confirm the alarm to be a false alarm due to the alarms being tested.

 09.13 Highway Nr. Simonstone Hall, Nr Hawes

 Fire crews from Hawes attended an incident involving 2 cars that had driven into flood water.

There were 2 occupants in both cars, all persons were led to safety and the vehicles were retrieved to a safe location. Manpower only used by fire crews.

10.26 Low Bank, Embsay

 Fire crews from Skipton attended a house fire on Low Bank at Embsay.

The crews used 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels, thermal imaging cameras and lighting to enable them to extinguish the fire. Fire damage was confined to the bedroom however the whole property sustained smoke damage.

The fire is believed to have started due to an electrical appliance being left on.

11.41 Church Lane, Stutton, Nr Tadcaster

 Fire crews from Tadcaster attended a cat that was stuck on the roof of a dwelling. The RSPCA requested assistance from fire crews as it was believed the cat had been on the roof for 3 days. The crew rescued the cat using manpower and ladders and re-united the cat with it’s owner. It was unharmed by it’s ordeal.

12.18     Greylands Park Ave, Newby, Scarborough

Fire crews from Scarborough attended an automatic fire alarm sounding. The crew investigated and confirmed the alarm had been activated by cooking fumes. Fire crews ensured the property was safe and gave advice. No further action required by fire crews.

13.18  Monks Cross Shopping Park, Monks Cross, York

Fire crews from Huntington attended a car fire at the shopping centre. Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reels.

16:11  Woodfield Avenue, Harrogate

 Two fire crews from Harrogate attended and dealt with a kitchen fire in a property. One male was lead to safety by fire crews from the kitchen and treated on scene for smoke inhalation by Ambulance paramedics. Fire crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan, before leaving the scene.
