Summary of Incidents – 10th March Shift

Toc:  0748 hours, Washing Machine on Fire, Foxdale Avenue, Thorpe Willoughby

Selby Crew attended a washing machine on fire.  Incident involved a washing machine on fire believed to have started in drum motor, causing approximately 50% fire damage to whole machine, 5% smoke damage to the kitchen and 10% fire damage to the kitchen floor.  The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Toc:  0847 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Meagill Lane, Blubberhouses.

Harrogate Crew attended.  Cause of alarm faulty detector.

Toc: 0911 hours, Barn Fire, Tadcaster Road, Copmanthorpe, York

Five crews attended a barn fire measuring 20 metres by 20 metres.  Crews using 2 hose reel jets, 1 main jet and 4 breathing apparatus.  York Crew and Tadcaster Water Bowser still in attendance.  Ongoing operation to remove and extinguish 20 tonnes of burning straw from inside of destroyed barn.

Toc:  2305 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Commercial Residential Premises, Swan Road, Harrogate

A Harrogate crew attended an automatic fire alarm sounding, the cause of the alarm was steam.

Toc:  1059 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Rowntree Wharf, Navigation Road, York

Acomb crew attended an automatic fire alarm sounding. The cause of the alarm was contractors testing the system.

Toc:  1207 hours, Assist Police in locating snake in area of Seamer Carr, Dunslow Road, Scarborough

Scarborough crew were mobilised to this incident to loan Police a thermal imaging camera to help locate a missing snake.  When the fire crews arrived the Police already had a camera and the Fire Service were not required.

Toc: 1207 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Ramsay Close, York

Acomb Crew attended an automatic fire alarm sounding. The cause of alarm sounding was found to be dust from workmen.

Toc:  1634 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Commercial Premises, Craven Bank Lane, Giggleswick

Settle Crew Attended.  Cause of alarm was accidental breakage of break glass point.

Toc:  2322 hours, Persons stuck in lift, Valley Drive, Harrogate

Harrogate attended. Two people were released from the lift using lift keys.

Toc:  1658 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Commercial Premises, Easingwold Business Park, Easingwold.

Cause of the alarm was steam from shower.
