Incident Summary - Night Shift 17th February

Summary of Incidents – 17th February Night Shift

Toc: 1748 hours Car Fire, Brown Cow Road, Barlow

Selby Crews dealt with a Citroen car on fire.  Car was 100% fire damaged.  Crews used 2 hose reels and 2 breathing apparatus.

Toc: 1802 hours Three Vehicle Road Traffic Collision, A59 Moor Monkton

Acomb and York attended a 3 vehicle road traffic collision involving a van, a Hyundai I20 and a Citroen C1.  One male aged 55 trapped in Hyundai. Crews used hand tools and manpower to release him from vehicle.  He was taken to hospital by road ambulance suffering from chest injuries and abdominal pains.  Crews made vehicles safe.

Toc:  1813 hours, 1 female stuck on wall, York City Walls, Jewbury, York.

Huntington attended a female who had not realised the walls got locked at night so was unable to get off the walls.  Crews used a triple extension ladder to help her off the walls.

Toc: 1827 hours, 1 van rolled over, A65 Gargrave

Skipton Crews dealt with a stationary van on its side, 1 male aged 30 years trapped by structure of vehicle only.  He was suffering from minor lacerations to his face.  He was transported to hospital by road ambulance.  Crews used small tools to release him.

Toc: 1854 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Filey Road, Scarborough

Scarborough Crew attended Automatic Fire Alarm.  Cause of the alarm accidental activation of break glass point.

Toc:  1854 hours, House Fire, Wandale Lane, Great Barugh, Malton

Pickering and Malton Crews attended a fire in a living room of a farmhouse, believed to be caused by careless handling/disposal of hot ashes from an open fire.  Fire caused 100% fire damage to a log basket and smoke damage throughout the property.  The fire was out on arrival of the Fire Service and the occupants had ventilated the property prior to the Fire Service arrival.  Crews used thermal imaging camera, triple extension ladder and lighting used.

Toc: 2232 hours, Smoke Filled Kitchen, Rowan Place, New Earswick, York

Huntington and York Fire Crews attended a fire in a bedroom.  The cause of the fire believed to be a bedside lamp on the floor, covered by a dressing gown and accidentally switched on.  5% fire damage to the dressing gown and 50% heat damage to the lamp.  Smoke alarms fitted in the property but were faulty, fire crews replaced them.  Two children, a boy aged 11 and a girl aged 8 treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Toc:  0126 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Filey Road, Scarborough

Scarborough Crews attended cause of alarm, fault on system.

Toc: 0207 hours, Car Fire, Bouldershaw Lane Area, Langthwaite, Richmond

Car Fire involving a Mercedes saloon car following a road traffic collision.  100% fire damge to the car.  Crews from Reeth and Leyburn used 1 hose reel, 2 breathing apparatus, lighting, thermal imaging camera and tirfor winch used.

Toc:  0249 hours – Automatic Fire Alarm, Sawmill Lane, Helmsley

Helmsley crew attended, cause of alarm fault on system.

Toc: 0312 hours, Automatic Fire Alarm, Sawmill Lane, Helmsley

 Helmsley crew attended.  Cause of alarm system fault.
