Automatic Fire Alarm Activations

Throughout the night shift Fire crews attended automatic fire alarm activations in: -

Scarborough – Malicious activation

Thirsk – System fault

York – Cigarette smoke

Knaresborough – System fault

Thirsk – Faulty detector

Time: 1734     Incident No. 2051      Location: Larkspur Grove, Harrogate

Harrogate crews dealt with a carpet cleaning machine on fire outside a domestic property, a hose reel was used to extinguish the fire.  The cause was believed to be an electrical fault in the machine.

Time: 1906     Incident No. 2054      Location: Thanet Road, York.

A 2 vehicle road traffic collision left one of the vehicles on its’ side. Crews from York & Acomb attended. No persons were trapped, crews made scene safe.

Time: 1956     Incident No. 2060      Location: Fossway, York

A small fire in a children’s playground was extinguished by a York crew.  The fire was believed to have been started deliberately.

Thursday 16th March 2017

Time: 0032     Incident No. 2064      Location: Rievaulx, near Helmsley

A stone building used as a workshop was almost completely fire damaged. A gas cylinder was involved in the fire. Crews from Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Thirsk and Pickering were in attendance, plus a water bowser from Boroughbridge. Crews were in attendance through the night extinguishing the fire.

Time: 0601     Incident No. 2065      Location: Monks Cross, York

York crew responding to an automatic fire alarm found a small fire in a plate warmer in a supermarket. The warmer was isolated and removed from the premises.
