Incident Summary North Yorkshire Fire Dayshift 8th November 2017

8th November 2017

Time 0857    Location: Malton

Crews from Malton and Pickering attended a report of a gas cylinder on fire in the Malton area. This fire was out on arrival. Crews checked the remaining cylinders with the thermal imaging camera and gave safety advice to the responsible person on site.

Time 0901    Location: Acomb

Crews from Acomb, Huntington and York were mobilised to a 3 vehicle road traffic collision in the Acomb area. Crews used hydraulic cutting gear to remove a vehicle roof to extricate a casualty suffering with spinal injuries.


Time 0908     Location: Acomb

A crew from Huntington attended a report of a wheelie bin on fire in the Acomb area. This fire was out on the arrival of the crew.

Time 0917    Location: Filey

Crews from Filey and Scarborough attended a report of smoke filling up a property from a coal fire. All persons inside the premises were accounted for, it was confirmed to be fumes from a faulty fire. Crews worked with the responsible person on site to make the fire safe.

Time 1007     Location: Skipton

Crews from Skipton and Harrogate attended a report of a room full of smoke in a property in Skipton. The fire to a curtain was out on arrival, crews inspected the property using a thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire was believed to be a mirror reflecting sunlight

Time 1129     Location: Acomb

A crew from Acomb responded to a call of a woman stuck in a lift in Acomb. Crews released the person using lift keys.

 Time 1324      Location: Malton

2 crews from Malton attended a report of a chimney fire in the Malton area. The fire was confined to the chimney. Crews used a triple extension ladder to access the loft and used chimney rods and 1 hose reel to extinguish the fire. They checked for hotspots using the thermal imaging camera and gave fire safety advice to the occupier.

Time 1632      Location: Scarborough

Crews are currently in attendance at a 3 vehicle road traffic collision in the Stepney Road area. This incident is ongoing.


Along with these incidents we received calls for Acomb, Harrogate, Richmond, Easingwold and Scarborough. These were all confirmed as false alarms.
