Incident Summary - Night Shift 25th February

Summary of Incidents – 25th February Night Shift

Toc:  1749 Hours – Tree on Fire in middle of a field, A169 High Marishes

Pickering Crew attended.  Tree on fire in middle of a field. Fire caused by pigeon scaring device made up ofxplosive cartridges.  Crews used 1 hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and lighting.

Toc:  1802 Hours – Smell of Burning in GPO Room, Station Road, Tadcaster

Tadcaster attended.  Cause overheated battery, crews removed battery to open air.

Toc:  1834 Hours – Automatic Fire Alarm, Junction Mills, Skipton Road, Crosshills

Skipton Crew attended. Cause of alarm fault on system.

Toc:  1918 Hours – Chimney Fire, High Mains, Masham

Masham and Bedale Crews attended.  Chimney fire was out prior to the arrival of the Fire Service, crews used thermal imaging camera and lighting to inspect the chimney.  The cause of the fire was an accumulation of soot.

Toc:  1954 Hours – Bin Fire, Moor Lane, Eastfield, Scarborough

Scarborough crew attended.  Cause of bin fire a dropped light.  Crews used 1 hose reel.

Toc:  2115 Hours – Reports of smoke in a Commercial Residential Property, Station Rise, York

York, Acomb, York and Huntington crews attended.  After a thorough search of the property crews could not locate any fire or smoke in the property. 

Toc:  2124 Hours – Kitchen fire, Cold Bath Road, Harrogate

Harrogate, Knaresborough crews attended.  Small fire in kitchen involving a tea towel which had been left on the hob.  The fire was out on arrival of the Fire Service.  No action by Fire Service.

Toc:  2233 Hours – Automatic Fire Alarm, Garrowby Way, Heslington.

York Crews attended, Cause steam from shower.

Toc: 2257 Hours – Kitchen Fire, Green Dykes Lane, York.

York and Acomb attended.  Cause of the fire a pan left unattended, fire spread to the cooker hood.  The fire caused 80% fire damage to the cooker hood, 20% smoke damage to the room of origin.  Occupiers used two 9 litre water extinguishers prior to Fire Service Arrival.  Crews used 1 hose reel, 2 breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation fan to deal with the fire.

Toc:  0531 Hours – Automatic Fire Alarm, University Road, Heslington

York Fire Crews attended.  Cause of alarm flooding in kitchen.
