Incident Summary Day Shift 14th August

14th August 2016

Cold Bath Road, Harrogate

Time: 0710

2 vehicle RTC. 1 male extricated from vehicle with 2 passengers out on arrival. Male casualty transported to hospital via road ambulance. Crews from Harrogate attended.

Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time: 0853

Automatic fire alarm activation. This was found to be a false alarm due to cooking fumes. Scarborough crew attended.

Bootham, York

Time: 0939

Male had fallen into a hole being used by roadworks. Crews wee requested by ambulance. Male was extricated from trench by fire crews and taken to hospital via air ambulance. York crew attended.

The Mount, York

Time: 1015

Fire in Hotel. Fire had started in a shower on the third floor believed to be due to an electrical fault. Crews used 1 hose reel jet to extinguish. Crews from Acomb and Huntington attended.

Low Row, Reeth

Time: 1016

Chimney fire. Reeth crew attended a chimney fire caused by an accumulation of soot from a wood burner. They used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and extinguished using a chimney kit.

Intake Lane, Acaster Malbis

Time: 1145

Crews from Acomb and York attended reports of a RTC involving one vehicle. Crews carried out scene safety by stabilising vehicle and left the incident with police and ambulance.

Royal Oak, Hunmanby

Time: 1202

Fire in grain silo. Filey crew attended and found that the fire was out on arrival and there was a small amount of grain damaged by overheating. Crews cooled the silo using 1 hose reel jet.

Coney Street, York

Time: 1226

Acomb crews responded to reports of flooding inside a retail premises. They found that there had been a burst pipe on the second floor. There were no keyholder details or contact numbers on site so crews gained access and isolated the water and electrics. There had been extensive damage to the first floor and minor damage to the ground floor.

Langbourne Road, Whitby

Time: 1233

Whitby crews assisted when a trawler boat began taking on water and backfilling on a wharf in Whitby. They used a light portable pump to pump water which saved the vessel from possibly sinking by allowing the boat to proceed to dry dock, thus preventing a major salvage operation. They left the incident with the coastguard.

Cornlands Road, York

Time: 1237

An incinerator in a back garden was left unattended and fire spread to hedgerow and trampoline. Huntington crew attended and extinguished using 1 hose reel.

Granby Road, Harrogate

Time: 1239

A Harrogate crew responded to an automatic fire alarm activation. They found that this was a false alarm cause: unknown.

Philippas Drive, Harrogate

Time: 1434

A crew from Harrogate attended an automatic fire alarm activation. They found that this was a false alarm, gave advice and carried out a home safety assessment.

Westfield Place, Acomb

Time: 1500

Acomb crew responded o reports of a fire in the open. They found that this was a false alarm and actually controlled burning under supervision.

Eastborough, Scarborough

Time: 1536

There was a moped leaking fuel in a car park I Eastborough. A crew from Scarborough attended and found that this was a small fuel leak so used drizzit pads to absorb the fuel and make safe.

Hunmanby, Filey

Time: 1543

Crews from Filey and Scarborough responded to reports of a field of corn on fire in Hunmanby. Bridlington appliance from Humberside also attended. The cause was an overheated combine harvester. Crews used 2 hose reels and beaters.

Stakesby Vale, Whitby

Time: 1620

Whitby crew investigated reports of a tree stump on fire. They located the tree stump and extinguished using a water backpack and jet.
