Round up of incidents – Day Shift 7th May

Broughton Road, Skipton

Fire crews from Skipton attended domestic premises where the fire alarm system was sounding. Crews investigated the alarm sounding and confirmed there was no fire. The alarm had sounded due to cooking fumes. Advice given to occupants.

 North Street, Scarborough

Fire crews from Scarborough attended reports of a bin on fire in North Street. When crews arrived, a member of public had used buckets of water to extinguish the fire.

Fire crews ensured the fire was fully extinguished, no further action required. The fire is believed to be due to a dropped light.

 Sturdy Court, Kirkbymoorside

Fire crews from Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley responded to reports of a smoke alarm sounding at domestic premises. When crews arrived they were able to confirm there was no fire. The alarms had been activated due to fumes from smoking. Advice was given to the resident.

 High Street, Burniston

Fire crews from Scarborough and an officer attended a fire at a commercial premises on the High Street. When crews arrived they discovered a fire in the extractor fan.

The fire spread to the roof, causing slight fire damage and moderate smoke damage. Fire crews used a hose reel, breathing apparatus, thermal imaging camera and small tools. The fire is believed to have started due to an accumulation of fat in the extractor fan.

 Parliament Street, York  

Fire crews from York attended reports of a bin fire on Parliament Street. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire. Crews believed the fire to have been started by a dropped light.

 Thornborough Hall Gardens, Leyburn

Fire crews from Leyburn attended a domestic property where the automatic fire alarm was sounding. When crews arrived at scene, they investigated the property and confirmed there to be no fires. Crews were able to confirm the alarm was activated by insects in a detector head. Crews gave advice and no further action was required.
