Incident Summary – Day Shift Friday 17th February

 

Road traffic collision – A1237, New Earswick

Time of call: 0840 hours

A crew from Huntington has been called to a minor road traffic collision involving an Audi and a VW Polo. No persons were trapped. The female occupant of the Polo received a precautionary check on scene from paramedics. Fire crew moved the vehicles to the side of the road and assisted in scene safety.

 

False alarm – Coggan Close, York

Time of call: 0845 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to vaping.

 

False alarm – Church Lane, Kirby Hill

Time of call: 1042 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Langburns Bank, Castleton

Time of call: 1323 hours

A crew from Danby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to the system being tested.

 

Kitchen fire – East Parade, Harrogate

Time of call: 1342 hours

A crew from Harrogate has dealt with a bag of paperwork which had been left on top of an electric hob which was then accidentally turned on. This resulted in fire damage to the bag and contents only. Crew removed the bag to the open and doused it with water. The cause is believed to be accidental.

 

Kitchen fire – Woodfield Drive, Harrogate

Time of call: 1449 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have dealt with a fire in the kitchen of a first floor flat. This has resulted in fire damage to a toaster and adjacent units, heat damage to the nearby wall and microwave and smoke damage to the kitchen and remainder of flat. The cause is believed to be due to a faulty toaster.

 

Bus fire – A6055, Boroughbridge

Time of call: 1556 hours

Crews from Boroughbridge and Ripon have dealt with a fire in the engine compartment of a double decker bus. This resulted in fire damage to the engine compartment only. The cause is believed to be a mechanical fault. This also caused an oil spillage on the carriageway. Crews used 1 hosereel, thermal imaging camera, drain cover and drizzit pads.

 

Horse stuck in ditch – Leavening

Time of call: 1602 hours

A crew from Malton are attempting to rescue a horse from a ditch. The owner and a vet are also in attendance.

False alarm – Thirkill Drive, Harrogate

Time of call: 1607 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

False alarm – Scalby Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1619 hours

2 crews from Scarborough have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

Water leak – Prince of Wales Terrace, Scarborough

Time of call: 1622 hours

A crew from Scarborough has dealt with a water leak affecting 3 floors in a block of residential flats which was affecting the electrics. The crew isolated the water supply to the building and gave advice to the occupiers.
