False alarm – Shipton Road, Skelton, York

Time of call: 0758 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam.

 

Road traffic collision – A629, Skipton bypass

Time of call: 0941 hours

Two crews from Skipton have been called to a road traffic collision involving 2 cars. The first vehicle had 1 male occupant who was not trapped or injured. The second vehicle, a Honda Civic, had 1 male occupant who was trapped in the vehicle. Fire crews performed a side removal to release the male who suffered minor injuries only. Hydraulic cutting equipment, stabilisation gear and airbag protection was used.

 

False alarm – Hurricane Way, York

Time of call: 1038 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to testing being carried out.

 

Bin fire – Danebury Drive, York

Time of call: 1100 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to 3 wheelie bins on fire. This then spread to 3 wooden fence panels and a further 3 wheelie bins. An adjacent window was cracked due to the heat. The cause is accidental and the crew have used 1 hosereel.

 

False alarm – The Shambles, York

Time of call: 1121 hours

Crews from York and Huntington have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a retail property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a wallpaper stripper.

 

False alarm – Springfield, Scarborough

Time of call: 1233 hours

Crews from Scarborough have been called to a smoke alarm activation at a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – Walmgate, York

Time of call: 1505 hour

Crews from York and Huntington have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a deodorant spray.

 

Chimney fire – Church Close, Carleton, Skipton

Time of call: 1535 hours

A crew from Skipton has been to a chimney fire in a church boiler house. This was due to an accumulation of birds nesting materials. Crew have used 13.5m ladder, roof ladder, triple extension ladder, chimney rods, harnesses and a thermal imaging camera.

 

Car fire – Church Row, Whitley Bridge

Time of call: 1636 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to a car fire. On our arrival the fire was out. It was extinguished by the owner using buckets of water. The cause is believed to be accidental and 1 hosereel jet was used to cool the vehicle.
