Incident Summary – Day Shift Friday 22nd June

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Rescue from vehicle – Fossway, York

Time of call: 0919 hours

A crew from York has rescued a child from a car after they became locked inside. Crew used hand tools and wire to pop the lock and release the child unharmed.

 

Road traffic collision – A64 eastbound near Bilbrough

Time of call: 1026 hours

Crews from Tadcaster, Acomb and York have been called to reports of a 4 vehicle collision. This was only a 2 vehicle collision, no persons were trapped and no action was taken by our crews. Incident left with Police.

 

False alarm – Montague Road, York

Time of call: 1228 hours

Crews from York and Acomb have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – Long Street, Thirsk

Time of call: 1230 hours

Crews from Thirsk and Northallerton have responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

False alarm – off Fulford Road, York

Time of call: 1323 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to accidental activation of a manual call point.

 

False alarm – Nether Poppleton

Time of call: 1409 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a test being carried out on the system.

 

False alarm – off Lord Mayors Walk, York

Time of call: 1448 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.

 

Animal Rescue - Melmerby

Time of call: 1505 hours

A crew from Ripon has been called to assist the RSPCA rescue a swan with an injured wing that was trapped under a metal security fence. Crew used a fleece jacket and manpower to release the swan. Swan handed over into care of RSPCA who will take it local vet for treatment.

 

Grass fire – Burton Green, York

Time of call: 1525 hours

A crew from Acomb has dealt with a grass fire approx. 20m by 30m. Crews used beaters and a hosereel. The cause is believed to be discarded smoking materials

 

False alarm – Monkgate, York

Time of call: 1525 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

 

Bin fire – Hawthorn Avenue, Malton

Time of call: 1526 hours

A crew from Malton has dealt with a rubbish fire in the garden of a domestic property. This was controlled burning however due to material of items being burned, crew extinguished the fire using 1 hosereel and gave advice to the occupier.

 

Malicious call – Off Haleys Terrace, York

Time of call: 1608 hours

Crews from Acomb, York and Huntington have been called to reports of a chip pan fire in a domestic property. This was a malicious call. No fire at the property.

 

Bin fire – Marage Road, Thirsk

Time of call: 1613 hours

A crew from Thirsk have dealt with a public bin on fire. Damage was limited to the contents of the bin. The cause is believed to be deliberate and crew used buckets of water to extinguish.
