Incident Summary Day Shift Friday 27th July 2018

26th July 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

We also attended a number of fire alarm activations during the shift which turned out to be a false alarms.

 

Carrfield York. Time of call 07:58. House struck by lightning 

Crews were called to reports of lightning hitting a house . Crews attended and carried out investigations but there was no signs of fire.

 

Nether Poppleton Time of call 08:14 House struck by lightning 

Crews were called  to reports of a house struck by lightning. The lightning had struck the rood of the property and caused a hole in the roof. Crews used salvage sheets to cover the hole and advised the occupier to have the roof and the electrics of the property checked.

 

Wigginton, York. Time of call 09:01 House struck by lightning 

Crews are in attendance and found a small fire involving electrics (including to a television). The fire was out on the arrival of crews. Crews inspected only using a ladder and thermal imaging camera.

They also checked along the street and on other properties. No other action taken.

 

Station Road, York. Time of Call 09:45- lightning strike to building.

Crews are in attendance and are carrying out investigations using a triple extension ladder and thermal imaging camera, due to there being a smell of smoke within the building. 

Advice was given to occupier of the building.

 

Upper Poppleton, York. Time of call 09:58- possible lightning strike to building

One crew is en-route to a possible lightning strike to a property.

Crews attended and could find no signs of fire.

 

The Crescent, Selby. Time of call 09:58  flooding inside property

Water was entering the top floor of a property. Crews used a ladder to gain access to the roof, they cleared the gutters and inspected the roof, and provided advice to the occupier.

 

A63, Lumby.  Time of call 10:49.  Fire in the open

One crew from Selby attended and extinguished a small rubbish fire using a hose reel jet.

 

Acaster Malbis.  Time of call 12:43.  Unsafe Structure

Fire crews attended a property which had been struck by lightening which then damaged the chimney stack, out fire crews made the structure safe and recovered the roof to make it water tight.

 

Cayton, Scarborough.  Time of call 13:25 Tractor Fire

Fire crews from Scarborough and Filey attended and extinguished a tractor which was completely destroyed by fire using 2 hose reel jets.

 

Burton Leonard.  Time of call: 14:16.  Fire in field

Fire crews from Knaresborough attended this incident and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.

 

Birkin Lane, Birkin.  Time of call: 15:07.  Road traffic collision

Fire crews from Selby and Pontefract attended this incident and provided scene safety and assistance to Police and Ambulance service.
