Incident Summary - Day Shift Friday 28th October

False alarm – Oak Beck Road, Harrogate Time of call: 0721 hours

A crew from Harrogate has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to the system being tested.

False alarm – M62 westbound between J34 and J33 Time of call: 0815 hours

A crew from Selby along with appliances from West Yorkshire have been called to reports of a van fire. This was a false alarm due to steam and fumes from a blown turbo. 1 male has suffered scalding to his face and arms. Crews administered first aid until arrival of paramedics.

False Alarm – Roughaw Close, Skipton Time of call: 0831 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

False alarm – East Lane, Shipton by Beningbrough Time of call: 0915 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause. Advice given to occupier.

False alarm – The Avenue, Ruswarp Time of call: 0936 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

Assistance to Ambulance – Grasmere Drive, High Bentham Time of call: 1051 hours

A crew from Bentham have assisted paramedics with casualty handling at a residential property. 1 male transferred from the property to the ambulance and taken to hospital.  Manpower only used.

Road traffic collision – A66, Melsonby Junction Time of call: 1112 hours

Crews from Richmond, Leyburn and Darlington have dealt with a road traffic collision involving 2 cars. No persons physically trapped in either vehicle, however, 1 male was trapped due to possible neck injuries. Crews removed the roof of the vehicle using hydraulic cutting gear. 1 male taken to hospital.

False alarm – Montpellier Parade, Harrogate Time of call: 1309 hours

2 fire crews and an aerial ladder from Harrogate, along with crews from Knaresborough and Ripon have been called to a smell of smoke in a residential building. A full investigation has been carried out and the source of the smell has been located to a particular area. Investigations have confirmed that there is no fire but the crew continues to establish the cause of the smell.

Car fire – A1 northbound between J50 Baldersby and J51 Leeming Time of call: 1320 hours

Crews from Bedale, Boroughbridge, Thirsk and Ripon have been called to a car fire which has resulted in fire damage to the engine compartment of a people carrier type vehicle. The cause was a fuel leak and our crews used a hosereel and a thermal imaging camera.

Small fire – Oak Beck Road, Harrogate Time of call: 1536 hours

A crew from Harrogate have dealt with a camp fire in the open. The cause was intentional and our crew used a wildfire backpack to extinguish.

False alarm – Birch Road, Sleights Time of call: 1648 hours

A crew from Whitby has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes. Advice was given to the occupier.
