Incident Summary – Day Shift Friday 6th July

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Wheatlands Grove, York

Time of call: 0708 hours

A crew rom Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a kettle.

False alarm – Gargrave School, Skipton

Time of call: 0744 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a faulty detector head.

Rubbish fire – A171, Fylingdales

Time of call: 1045 hours

A crew from Whitby has dealt with a rubbish fire in the open. The crew used 1 hosereel to extinguish it and the cause is believed to be a bonfire left unattended.

Fire in building –Goathland

Time of call: 1113 hours

Crews rom Lythe, Pickering and Goathland have dealt with a fire at a commercial property. Damage was limited to a birds nest which had fallen onto a generator. Crews used a hosereel and thermal imaging camera.

Rescue from structure – Woodlands Drive, Scarborough

Time of call: 1134 hours

The aerial ladder crew from Scarborough has rescued a young boy who had climbed onto the roof of a 2 storey commercial property.  Boy left in care of staff.

Fire in woods – off Luscombe Way, New Earswick

Time of call: 1417 hours

A crew from Huntington has extinguished a small fire involving scrub in a wooded area. The cause is believed to be deliberate and crew used buckets of water.

Fire in open – Bishopdale

Time of call: 1417 hours

A crew from Hawes has dealt with a stack of approx. 15 round bales on fire. Crew used 2 hosereels. The cause is believed to be spontaneous combustion.  **Incident remains open for a revisit on Saturday morning**

False alarm – Chestnut Avenue, Thornton le Dale

Time of call: 1510 hours

A crew from Pickering has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown fault as the alarm was reset prior to our arrival.

Grass fire – A63, Lumby

Time of call: 1521 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has dealt with an area approx. 40sqm of rubbish and grass on fire in a fly tipping hotspot. Crew used 1 hosereel, knapsack sprayer and beaters. The cause is deliberate.

False alarm – Church Wynd, Richmond

Time of call: 1533 hours

A crew from Richmond has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

False alarm – Main Street, Minskip

Time of call: 1553 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has investigated reports of a fire in the open. This was a false alarm due to controlled burning under supervision.
