Incident Summary Day Shift Monday 23rd July 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

We also attended a number of fire alarm activations during the shift which turned out to be a false alarms.

Fire in woods – Knavesmire area, York

Time of call: 08:34

An appliance from Acomb attended this incident which was a small camp fire. They extinguished the fire using buckets of water.

Lorry Fire A19 Burn

Crews from Selby and Snaith attended a lorry on fire. The fire was to the low loading trailer, believed to have been caused by the brakes catching fire. They extinguished the fire and dampened down the vehicle using 2 hose reel jets. 

Window fire – Kirkbymoorside

Time of call: 13:32

Appliances from Kirkbymoorside and Pickering attended this incident and extinguished a fire which involved the window frame of a property.  Crews used a hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and small tools to extinguish the fire. The cause is believed to be accidental, the fire caused 50% fire damage to window frame.

Field Fire – Helmsley

Time of call: 13:34

Appliances from Pickering, Easingwold and Thirsk attended this incident and extinguished the fire to standing crops using a hose reel jet.  The cause is believed to be accidental caused by a bird scarer.

Lineside fire – Balne, Selby

Time of call: 13:57

North Yorkshire fire control were made aware of several seats of fire next to the railway line near Balne over a stretch of approximately 1 mile of lineside, appliances from Selby, Goole, Snaith and Pontefract attended this incident which is still on going.  This incident was dealt with by North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Humberside and South Yorkshire crews and was spread over an area consisting of both North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire boundaries. Crews used hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish the various seats of fires.

Small fire in open - Harrogate

Time of call: 15:25

An appliance from Harrogate attended this incident which was a tree on fire caused by a discarded camp fire. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
