False alarm – North Road Whitby

Time of call: 0916 hours

A crew from Whitby has been called to reports of a smell of burning coming from a first floor flat in a 3 storey building. This was a false alarm due to smoke formation from cooking.

Animal rescue – High Street, Northallerton

Time of call: 0952 hours

A crew from Northallerton has been called to release a bird trapped in a disused second floor room of a commercial property. A 9m ladder and hand tools were used to open the window to allow the bird to fly away.

False alarm – Minster Yard, York

Time of call: 1027 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Rescue – Sharow Lane, Sharow

Time of call: 1104 hours

A crew from Ripon has rescued an elderly female from the bath after her electric hoist developed a fault. The female was lifted into her wheelchair and left with her carer and a community responder.

Rescue from roof – Kestrel View, Crossgates

Time of call: 1127 hours

2 fire engines and the aerial ladder platform from Scarborough have rescued an elderly male from the roof of a bungalow after he collapsed whilst carrying out roof maintenance. The male, who was conscious, was brought to the ground in the ALP cage before being transferred to an ambulance and taken to hospital.

Car fire – Whitings Lane, Burn, Selby

Time of call: 1152 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a car fire. The Peugeot 206 sustained fire damage to the engine compartment and heat damage to the passenger compartment. The cause is believed to be an electrical fault and the crew used 2 breathing apparatus and a hosereel jet.

False alarm – Noels Court, Catterick Village

Time of call: 1315 hours

A crew from Colburn has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to cooking fumes.

False alarm – Beech Road, Harrogate

A crew from Colburn has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to fumes from cooking.

Chip pan fire – Oswaldene, Osmotherley

Time of call: 1618 hours

2 crews from Northallerton have attended a chip pan fire in a residential property.

False alarm – Station Road, Tadcaster

Time of call: 1633 hours

A crew from Tadcaster has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

Road traffic collision – Main Street, Minskip

Time of call: 1636 hours

A crew from Boroughbridge has dealt with a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a Saab with an elderly male driver which had collided with a parked Peugeot. No persons were trapped or injured. The fire crew moved the Saab to the side of the road using manpower and left the incident with the Police.

Seagull rescue – St Nicholas Cliff, Scarborough

Time of call: 1654 hours

A crew from Scarborough has rescued a seagull which had become trapped in the basement of a hotel. A triple extension ladder was used and the gull was released uninjured.
