Incident Summary – Day Shift Saturday 19th May

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Road traffic collision – A684, Brompton

Time of call: 0831 hours

2 Crews from Northallerton and a Incident Support Unit from Ripon have been called to a road traffic collision involving a lorry and a Ford Fiesta. Male driver of lorry was not trapped or injured. Male driver of car was trapped in vehicle. Release by crews using hydraulic cutting gear and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Kitchen fire – off Frenchgate, Richmond

Time of call: 0907 hours

A crew from Richmond responded to a smoke alarm in a domestic property. On their arrival they discovered a tea towel had been left on a hob and had ignited. The fire was extinguished by the resident prior to our arrival. Crews ventilated smoke from property using a positive pressure ventilation fan. The cause is believed to be accidental.

Grass fire – A1 southbound near J51, Leeming Bar

Time of call: 1055 hours

Crews from Bedale and Northallerton have dealt with an area of grass approx. 20m by 4m on fire beside the motorway. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish. The cause is believed to be an accidentally dropped light.

Cow rescue – off A169, Old Malton

Time of call: 1240 hours

Crews from Malton with the animal rescue unit have rescued a ¾ ton female cow from the River Derwent. The cow was rescued uninjured and reunited with farmer. Crews used swift water equipment, boat, farmers tractor and manpower.

Road traffic collision – A645, Drax

Time of call: 1304 hours

A crew from Selby has dealt with a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a Ford Focus and a Seat Exeo. 3 occupants in Seat were not trapped or injured. Male in Ford was stuck in vehicle due to pre-existing condition. Assisted from vehicle by fire crew and taken to hospital by ambulance for a precautionary check up.

False alarm – Town End Close, Cross Hills

Time of call: 1329 hours

A crew from Skipton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to an aerosol spray.

Road traffic collision – Langton

Time of call: 1519 hours

2 crews from Malton have been called to a 2 vehicle road traffic collision involving a camper van and a car. Female in camper was released and taken to hospital suffering back and head injuries. Female in car was released and taken to hospital with leg injuries. Crews used first aid equipment and manpower.

Pumping out – River Ouse, York

Time of call: 1549 hours

A crew from York has been pumping water from a stricken river cruiser which was taking on water. A light portable pump was used to remove water and maintain the stability of the boat. York fire boat and crew escorted boat back to dock at Acaster Malbis.

False alarm – Burniston Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1602 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to accidental activation of a call point.
