Incident Summary – Day Shift Saturday 21st April

 

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

 

Property fire – Haxby Road, York

Time of call: 0626 hours

Crews from Huntington and York have dealt with a fire in a residential property. This resulted in fire damage to items in a washing basket only. Crews removed the basket to the open and extinguished smouldering items using buckets of water. The cause is believed to be spontaneous combustion.

 

False alarm – Standard Way Industrial Estate, Northallerton

Time of call: 0906 hours

A crew from Northallerton has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to an unknown cause.

 

False alarm – Racecourse Road, York

Time of call: 1141 hours

A crew from Acomb has been called to reports of a person stuck in a lift at a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault with the lift alarm signal.

 

Small fire – Waterside, Knaresborough

Time of call: 1215 hours

A crew from Knaresborough has dealt with a small fire in the rear garden of a domestic property which has resulted in fire damage to a section of fence. Crew used a hosereel jet and the cause is believed to be a bonfire left unattended.

 

Small fire – off Foxwood Lane, York

Time of call: 1216 hours

Crews from Acomb and Huntington have dealt with a fire at a domestic property involving a section of fence and a bin. Damage was also caused to a plastic window frame, guttering and down pipe. Crews used a hosereel and reciprocating saw. The cause is believed to be smokers materials.

 

Tumble dryer fire – Salisbury Road, York

Time of call: 1342 hours

Crews from Acomb and York have been called to a tumble dryer on fire in a commercial property. Damage was caused to the internal drum only. The machine was unplugged and removed to the open prior to our arrival. Crew carried out inspection only. Cause believed to be accumulation of fluff.

 

Lift rescue – Princess Road, Malton

Time of call: 1342 hours

3 people have been rescued from a lift after it stalled at ground floor level. Crews used lift keys and all persons were unharmed.

 

False alarm – Valley Bridge Parade, Scarborough

Time of call: 1425 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Grass fire – A59, Bolton Abbey

Time of call: 1432 hours

A crew from Skipton has dealt with a grass fire approx. 20m by 5m. The cause is believed to be a spark from a steam train. 1 hosereel jet was used.

 

False alarm – Valley Bridge Parade, Scarborough

Time of call: 1459 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the detection system.

 

Removal of object – Northallerton

Time of call: 1504 hours

A crew from Northallerton has been called the local A&E to remove a galvanised bracket from a young boys finger. Crew used bolt croppers and boy was left in care of hospital staff.

 

Fire in open – North Grimston

Time of call: 1514 hours

A crew from Malton has dealt with a fire in a layby. 1 hosereel jet was used to extinguish the fire. The cause is unknown.

 

Animal rescue – Studley Road, Ripon

Time of call: 1539 hours

A crew from Ripon has rescued a lamb after it became trapped between a hedge and a fence.  Crew used small tools to allow farmer to pull lamb clear and reunite it with it’s mother.
