Incident Summary Day Shift Saturday 4th August 2018

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

Ings Avenue, Settle

Time of call: 08:34

Crews from Settle and Skipton were called to a fire in a residential property. This was a fire caused by an electrical fault on a mobile phone charger. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and also used 2 sets of breathing apparatus to assist.

A171 Aislaby

Time of call: 10:12

A crew from Whitby were called to a car on fire. This was  a fire that caused minor damage to the radiator in the engine compartment of the vehicle. A passer-by extinguished the fire using a dry powder extinguisher prior to the Fire Brigade’s arrival. Crews assisted by disconnecting the battery and a thermal imaging camera was used to ensure the fire was out.

Farnhill Wood, Keighley

Time of call: 13:37

A crew from Skipton were called to a fire in the open. This was an abandoned camp fire. Crews extinguished this using a water knapsack and a shovel.

Palace Hill, Eastborough, Scarborough

Time of call: 15:03

Crews from Scarborough and Filey were called to a fire in a commercial property. This was out on Fire Brigade arrival.

Askham Lane, York

Time of call: 15:17

A crew from Acomb were called to a fire in a field. This was a fire to a field and trees within a 10m x 10m area. Crews used beaters, shovels and buckets of water to extinguish this and ensured the fire was out using a hose reel jet

Bootham Stray, York

Time of call: 15:19

Crews from Huntington, Acomb and York were called to a fire in the open. The fire measured 1000 square metres. The crews used 4 hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish. This was believed to have been a deliberate fire.
