Incident Summary – Day Shift Sunday 28th October

In order to ensure that people are not identifiable from our incident round-up, we will no longer be providing street names, for smaller towns and villages, where incidents have occurred.

False alarm – Wigginton Road, York

Time of call: 0946 hours

A crew from York has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a commercial property. This was a false alarm due to steam from a shower.

Road traffic collision – Beckwith Road, Harrogate

Time of call: 0957 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have been called to a road traffic collision involving a Vauxhall Astra which had collided with a parked car and rolled onto it’s side. 2 occupants in the car, female driver (40’s) suffered shock and male child (early teens) suffered suspected neck and spinal injuries. Both were assisted from the vehicle by a neighbour with a set of step ladders and taken to hospital by road ambulance. Crews administered first aid and made the scene safe. Hand tools used.

Car fire – A645, Kellingley

Time of call: 1128 hours

A crew from Selby has been called to reports of smoke coming from the rear of a car stereo. Resulted in slight damage to wiring only. Fire was out on our arrival but crew used a thermal imaging camera for inspection purposes. Advice given.

House fire – off Forest Lane, Harrogate

Time of call: 1132 hours

2 crews from Harrogate have dealt with a fire at a domestic property. Incident started in rear bedroom then ignited material is believed to have landed on waste cardboard outside the property. This in turn has caused a large fire against the back of the building causing damage to guttering and the fence and external wall of a neighbouring property. Inside the house damage was caused to a first floor bedroom and the roof space. Cause believed to be accidental. Crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels, thermal imaging cameras, torches and a short extension ladder. The cause is believed to have been a candle in a pumpkin lantern.

False alarm – Holgate Road, York

Time of call: 1153 hours

A crew from Acomb has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a residential property. This was a false alarm due to a fault in the detection system.

Animal rescue – River Ouse, Acaster Selby

Time of call: 1204 hours

A duty officer from York has investigated reports of a cow stuck in the river Ouse. Local farmer had already rescued cow prior to our arrival. Farmer and officer carried out search of area to ensure no further livestock were in the river. None found.

False alarm – off Seamer Road, Scarborough

Time of call: 1225 hours

A crew from Scarborough has responded to a smoke alarm activation in a domestic property. This was a false alarm due to a fault on the system.
